One Mind in Four Bodies

One Mind in Four Bodies
A person divided across siblings
Four children are born with a single consciousness directing all four bodies. The Checquy takes them into the Estate, where the unusual condition becomes a subject of training and institutional fascination.
Gestalt learns to move bodies independently, hold conversations through them, and coordinate them as a single force. The ability is extraordinary but also makes ordinary relationships difficult.
The Field Record

The Field Record
A formidable operative
Gestalt turns four bodies into a highly effective field team and earns a reputation through dangerous operations. The Checquy promotes Gestalt to Rook, pairing combat leadership with Myfanwy’s administrative strengths.
The partnership appears complementary, but the institution’s dependence on Gestalt’s reputation makes it harder for colleagues to question the Rook’s conduct.
The Bath Betrayal

The Bath Betrayal
A colleague becomes an adversary
Norman Goblet attacks Myfanwy during the Bath fungal crisis and identifies her as not being Gestalt. His assumption reveals that the Rook has been implicated in the concealed plot and that Myfanwy’s predecessor was expected to remain ignorant.
The revelation changes the meaning of earlier Court meetings. Gestalt’s authority is no longer simply an operational asset but a possible instrument of Grafter infiltration.
The Reception Coup

The Reception Coup
A shared mind turns on the Court
Myfanwy publicly accuses Gestalt of treason. The four bodies respond with coordinated violence, supported by compromised Retainers, and the reception becomes a battlefield where members of the Court are killed.
Myfanwy’s powers help restrain some bodies, but Gestalt’s ability to shift its consciousness makes capture difficult. The coup reveals both the reach of the conspiracy and the limits of the Checquy’s trust.
Two Bodies in Custody

Two Bodies in Custody
A divided prisoner
The Checquy captures two of Gestalt’s bodies while the other two remain at large. At Gallows Keep, Myfanwy confronts the imprisoned body and learns that Gestalt believes another Court member arranged her promotion.
The interrogation makes Gestalt’s political role clearer but does not produce a complete confession. Later, the loss of Eliza’s body ends the possibility of creating another shared child and leaves the surviving consciousness grieving and diminished.
